Living in Minglanilla

Minglanilla is a growing town on the southern side of Metro Cebu, between Talisay and Naga. It’s best known for the Sugat-Kabanhawan Festival every Easter Sunday, when the town reenacts the meeting of the risen Christ and the Virgin Mary. Many families move here for more space at a lower cost than Cebu City, while staying within reach of the city for work and school.

Everyday places near Danarra South:

• Gaisano Grand Minglanilla, about 2.4 km away, for groceries, a department store and banks.
• Minglanilla District Hospital, about 3.8 km away, for emergencies and check-ups.
• Tabunok in Talisay, next town north, about 8 km away, with its busy public market and more shops.
• SM Seaside City Cebu and Il Corso at the South Road Properties (SRP), about 15 km away, the big weekend mall trip.

Getting to Danarra South

Here’s how to get there from Cebu City or the airport, or by public transport.

From Cebu City

Drive south on N. Bacalso Avenue, also called the Cebu South Road, through Talisay and into Minglanilla, then turn off toward Tungkop. You can also use the coastal road along the SRP to skip part of the inner-city traffic before joining the highway in Talisay. Fuente Osmeña is about 17 km away. Google Maps shows under 30 minutes in light traffic, but plan for 45 minutes to an hour at rush hour.

From Mactan-Cebu International Airport

The airport is about 31 km away. Google Maps routes it along the Cebu South Coastal Road, which skips most of the downtown roads. Allow around 50 minutes in light traffic.

By public transport

Buses and jeepneys from the Cebu South Bus Terminal, about 15 km away, and from Talisay run along the south highway all day. Get off in Tungkop and take a tricycle or habal-habal the rest of the way.

What to look at on your site visit

Seeing the site in person tells you things a brochure can’t. If you visit Danarra South with me, these are the things I suggest checking:

• The actual lot. Stand on the lot you’re considering. Look at its slope, which direction the house faces, and how much afternoon sun it gets.
• Drainage. Ask how rainwater is handled within the community and whether the area has flooded in heavy rain.
• The road in. Drive the route at the time you would normally leave for work, so you know what the commute feels like.
• Neighbors and noise. Look at what’s around the community, such as main roads, farms, or other construction.
• Construction progress. Compare what’s built so far with the developer’s schedule.

Bring a valid ID and wear comfortable shoes. If you already have a model in mind, tell me ahead so I can ask the developer which lots are still open for that model.

Which model fits your family

First home or a couple starting out: the Odessa and Laila single attached homes are the most compact and easiest to maintain.

Growing families: the townhouse and duplex models give you three bedrooms and two or three bathrooms, so mornings are easier with kids.

Big or multi-generation households: the Sienna single detached model has five bedrooms.

Home business: the Camila shophouse puts a commercial space on the ground floor.

If you prefer the north side of Cebu, compare with Danarra North in Liloan, the same developer and concept on the other side of the metro.
